Data protection rules also apply to our communication. This page explains how we store and process your data when providing information, handling bookings and carrying out related administration.

We take the protection of stored data seriously. Personal data is used for the purposes described here. Our optional newsletter and SMS communications also involve the provider Brevo, as explained below.

Purpose of processing

Personal information you provide is processed internally by Chalets-CH – Matthias Kümpel (Switzerland) in the course of normal business, including enquiries, bookings and administrative tasks.

Sharing data

For the purposes described here, data may also be shared with the named service providers. Newsletter and SMS communications are based on your respective consent; technical provision of the website is independent of it.

SMS communications and consent

If you voluntarily opt in to SMS communications from Chalets-CH / Genius Brains GmbH, we use your mobile number and consent record to send information and offers about chalets and bookings. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of booking. You can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP. SMS Terms & Conditions.

We use Brevo as a processor to manage and deliver SMS communications on our instructions. The necessary mobile number, consent record and technical delivery data are processed for this purpose. SMS subscription data is used only while the subscription is active. After withdrawal, consent records may be retained only as long as necessary to demonstrate consent or comply with legal obligations; a minimal suppression record may be retained to prevent further messages.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.

Hosting and technical provision

The website is hosted by Vercel. Requests involve technical data such as IP address, requested URL, time and browser information, which may be processed for delivery, security and troubleshooting. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights

For availability searches and enquiries, we also count search outcomes, form starts, sending attempts, acknowledged receipt and technical error categories. Receipt means that our email service accepted the enquiry for sending, not that a booking was confirmed. No travel dates, guest counts, discount codes or contact details are sent as event properties.

We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregated visitor statistics and Speed Insights to measure loading performance and Web Vitals. We also measure selected interactions, such as chalet selections and clicks on booking, contact, newsletter, flyer, map and virtual-tour actions. These custom events contain only fixed categories such as the chalet identifier and the position of the action, never form entries, email addresses, phone numbers or message content. According to Vercel, the measurement records do not identify individual visitors; Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies. Depending on the service, page URL, time, device and browser information, approximate location and performance metrics are processed.

Our measurement filter removes query parameters and URL fragments, excludes guest download and unknown pages, and suppresses measurement events when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is signalled by your browser. Booking enquiries and transactional email

When you send a non-binding booking enquiry, we process the chalet, travel dates, number of guests, name, email address and any voluntary phone number or message in order to check availability, respond to your enquiry and take steps requested before a possible booking. Sending an enquiry does not create a booking or reservation and does not subscribe you to a newsletter.

We use Brevo to transmit the enquiry to our configured recipient and to send a transactional receipt confirmation to the email address you provided. This confirmation only acknowledges receipt; it does not confirm availability, a booking or a reservation. The submitted data and technical delivery information are processed by Brevo for these purposes. Google Ads and Consent Mode

We use the Google tag for Google Ads to connect this website with our advertising account and to measure advertising performance. We currently do not send custom conversion events or form content to Google. Before you make a choice, the Consent Mode v2 signals ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are set to ‘denied’.

If you decline, Google Ads and analytics cookies remain disabled. The Google tag operates in restricted Consent Mode and may send cookieless measurements containing the consent state and technical information such as the page URL, time, browser, device and network information. If you accept, Google may also use advertising and analytics storage and process advertising-related data. We do not deliberately include names, email addresses, phone numbers or form entries in Google tag parameters.

Your choice is stored locally in your browser and restored on later visits. You can change it at any time using ‘Privacy settings’ at the bottom of the page. Where consent is the applicable legal basis, it is based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and may be withdrawn for the future at any time. Google privacy policy · Google Consent Mode information.

Maps and directions

Chalet pages initially show a local placeholder. The interactive swisstopo map is loaded from the Swiss federal geoportal only after you select ‘Load map’; the geoportal then receives technical connection data such as your IP address and browser information. The separate directions link opens Google Maps, where Google processes data under its own terms. Map markers use the chalet coordinates stored on this website. Journey comparison

The journey comparison loads map tiles from swisstopo and OpenStreetMap when you open it; these providers receive technical connection data, including your IP address and the requested map area. A submitted country and postcode are looked up server-side using swisstopo for Switzerland, with Zippopotam.us as a fallback when no result is available or the service is unavailable. German and Austrian postcodes are looked up using Zippopotam.us. For driving times, the coordinates of the selected postcode area and the chalets are sent server-side to openrouteservice by HeiGIT. We do not request your exact home address or device location. Public postcode lookups and town-to-chalet driving times may be cached for one day. We do not send your postcode or starting coordinates to our analytics providers. Opening a route sends the starting and destination coordinates to Google Maps. If German or Austrian postcode results are missing, invalid or unavailable, we send the country and postcode server-side to Photon by komoot as a fallback. Only matching postal areas are used; no name, contact details or browser IP address are forwarded by our application. These lookups may also be cached for one day. komoot / Photon.

Protected guest guides

After a successful password check, a technically necessary cookie authorises downloads for the relevant chalet for 30 minutes. It contains a signed, temporary access token, not the password. The cookie is restricted to the chalet download endpoint and is not used for advertising or visitor measurement.

Language preference

When you deliberately change the website language, a functional cookie stores the selected language for one year. It contains only the value ‘de’ or ‘en’ and is not used for advertising or visitor measurement. Without a saved choice, the neutral homepage uses the browser's language preference to select German or English.

Direct-booking offer

After the direct-booking offer is minimized, a functional marker is stored in session storage so that it remains in its compact state during the same browser session. The marker contains no personal data and is deleted when the browser session ends.

Storage and deletion

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for its purpose or required by statutory retention obligations. The criteria above apply to newsletter and SMS data. You may request deletion at any time by email; legal obligations or other lawful retention grounds may prevent immediate deletion.

Access and correction

You may contact Chalets-CH at any time to access, update or request deletion of your personal information.

Matterport virtual tours

Selected chalet pages offer virtual tours from the external provider Matterport. A connection is established when the preview loads automatically near the visible area. With reduced motion enabled, the preview does not start automatically; you can still open the tour by clicking. You can disable Matterport again below the tour.
