Höchst Chalet

Höchst Chalet is part of a small settlement of around 51 houses at 1,700 metres, approximately 12 km from Frutigen and 250 metres from Berggasthaus Höchst. The final 300 metres from the car park are on foot; a sledge is provided for luggage and supplies.

Location & arrival

The chalet is in a small mountain settlement at around 1,700 metres, roughly 12 km from Frutigen and 250 metres from Berggasthaus Höchst.

It cannot be reached directly by car. The final 300 metres from the parking area below Metsch / Höchst are on foot. A sledge is provided for luggage and supplies.

Living & sleeping

The large main room serves as both lounge and living space. A lockable room has a 160 x 200 cm double bed and bunk beds for two children or adults. The lounge also contains a 100 x 200 cm single bed.

A folding wooden ladder leads to the open low loft above the lounge, which can sleep up to four children or adults. These beds are open to the shared room.

Lower room & bathroom

A separate converted room on the lower level has a 180 x 200 cm wooden combination bed with an upper berth for a child or teenager.

This room is next to the sauna and accessible only from outside. Reaching the bathroom and toilet requires crossing the outdoor terrace. There is one bathroom with shower and toilet in total.

Wellness & heating

The sauna is available all year. The outdoor hot tub is normally available and maintains a base temperature of around 39°C.

Correct use is essential. After a water change it can take up to 36 hours to reheat. Please shower first and keep the pool clean.

Equipment & everyday use

There is no television. Guests can stream on their own phone or laptop, and a Swisscom booster provides internet access.

A washing machine and dryer are available. Children have a play area and small play kitchen downstairs. Extra bed linen is available for a CHF 15 contribution.

Winter & supplies

Winter tyres are essential; snow chains are strongly recommended after snowfall, especially without four-wheel drive. Winter bus access is normally possible from 10 December and should be arranged in advance.

The nearest shop is around 10.5 km away. A bakery in Adelboden may deliver advance orders to Berggasthaus Höchst for a fee, depending on season and availability.
